1. Introduction
Welcome to Sweetee ("we," "our," or "us"). Sweetee is a private couples app designed to help romantic partners stay connected through mood sharing, photos, messages, and relationship milestones.
This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have regarding your data. By using Sweetee, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

2. Information We Collect
2.1 Account Information
When you create an account, we collect:
- Email address — used to authenticate your account
- Password — stored securely via Supabase Auth (hashed, never stored in plaintext)
- Apple ID credentials (if you use Sign in with Apple) — your name and email as provided by Apple
2.2 Profile Information
During onboarding and normal use, we collect:
- Display name — shown to your partner
- Birthday — used for relationship milestone tracking and reminders
- Profile photo (avatar) — displayed to your partner; stored in cloud storage
- Relationship information — how you met, whether you're long-distance, and relationship nurture goals you select during onboarding
2.3 Relationship & Couple Data
When you pair with a partner, we collect and store:
- Anniversary date — used for milestone countdowns and widgets
- Special dates and milestones — events you add (e.g., "First Date," "Got Engaged")
- Invite code — a temporary 6-digit code used to link two accounts (expires after 15 minutes)
2.4 Content You Create or Share
- Moods — your selected mood (e.g., happy, loved, tired), an optional custom emoji, and an optional mood note
- Photos — images you share with your partner (compressed and stored in cloud storage)
- Messages — text messages and photo messages sent to your partner
- Doodles — drawing strokes and exported images from the shared doodle canvas
- Quiz responses — your answers to relationship quiz questions
2.5 Usage & Activity Data
- Daily activity — whether you were active on a given date, used to calculate relationship streaks
- Timestamps — when content was created or updated
2.6 Device Information
- Push notification token — a device identifier provided by Expo used to deliver push notifications to your device; stored in your profile
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide the app's core features — mood sharing, photo sharing, messaging, doodle canvas, quizzes, and milestone tracking
- Connect you with your partner — making your profile, moods, photos, messages, and activity visible to your paired partner
- Send push notifications — to alert your partner when you share a photo or take actions in the app
- Display iOS widgets — your partner's mood and your relationship milestones are displayed on your device's home screen and lock screen via native widgets
- Authenticate your account — verify your identity when you sign in
- Improve the app — diagnose technical issues and understand how features are used
We do not use your personal information for advertising, profiling, or sale to third parties.

Sweetee is designed for two people. By design, your partner can see:

You control what content you choose to share (e.g., writing a mood note is optional). However, please be aware that most profile and relationship data is visible to your connected partner by the nature of the app.
5. Information Shared with Third Parties
We do not sell your personal information. We share data with the following service providers only as necessary to operate the app:
Supabase (supabase.com)
Our backend infrastructure provider. All data described in Section 2 is stored on Supabase's servers. Supabase handles database storage, user authentication, file storage (photos, avatars, doodle exports), and server-side functions. Data is stored in the United States.
Expo (expo.dev)
We use Expo's push notification service to deliver notifications to your device. Your push notification token is transmitted to Expo's servers (exp.host) when notifications are sent. Expo does not receive the content of your messages or photos.
Apple (apple.com)
If you use Sign in with Apple, Apple handles authentication and shares your name and email with us as per your consent choices. Apple may retain authentication data per their own privacy policy.
6. Data Storage and Security
- All data is stored on Supabase's cloud infrastructure located in the United States
- Authentication credentials are managed by Supabase Auth and are never stored in plaintext
- Photos and files are stored in Supabase Storage with access controlled by your couple's ID
- Session data is stored locally on your device using encrypted AsyncStorage
- We implement access controls so that data is only accessible to the two members of a couple
While we take reasonable measures to protect your data, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Data Retention
We retain your data as long as your account is active. Specifically:

When you delete your account, we will delete your personal data. Some residual data in logs or backups may persist for a short period (up to 30 days) before being purged.
8. Your Rights and Choices
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights:
- Access — Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
- Correction — Update inaccurate information through the app's settings
- Deletion — Request that we delete your account and associated data
- Portability — Request your data in a portable format
- Withdraw consent — Opt out of push notifications at any time through your device settings
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at hello@sweeteeapp.com. We will respond within 30 days. Note that deleting your account will also remove your data from your partner's shared couple space.
Push Notifications
You can disable push notifications at any time in your device's Settings app. This will not affect your ability to use other features of the app.
Photo & Camera Access
You can revoke photo and camera permissions at any time in your device's Settings app. Some features (photo sharing, avatar upload) require these permissions to function.
9. Children's Privacy
Sweetee is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we will delete it promptly.

10. International Users
Sweetee is operated from Australia. If you access the app from outside Australia, your data will be transferred to and processed in the United States (where our backend infrastructure is located) and potentially Australia. By using Sweetee, you consent to this transfer.
If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA) or United Kingdom, our legal basis for processing your data is your consent (for optional data) and the performance of our contract with you (for data necessary to provide the service).
11. California Privacy Rights (CCPA)
If you are a California resident, you have the right to:
- Know what personal information we collect, use, and share
- Request deletion of your personal information
- Opt out of the sale of your personal information (we do not sell personal information)
- Non-discrimination for exercising your privacy rights

12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we will notify you through the app or by email. Your continued use of Sweetee after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
