Privacy Policy
Effective date: August 4, 2026
Last updated: August 4, 2026
This policy applies to Sweetee's external beta, the Sweetee mobile app, and this website. The beta is still evolving; we will update this policy before any material change to these practices.
1. Who we are and the scope of this policy
Sweetee is a private shared space for paired partners to exchange affectionate moments and maintain everyday closeness. It is operated by Benson Chiang, an individual based in Taiwan (“Sweetee,” “we,” “us,” or “our”).
This policy explains the personal information we collect, why we use it, who receives it, and the choices available to you. It does not cover third-party services' independent practices; their policies are linked below where relevant.
2. Information we collect
Account and profile information
- email address, account identifier, and account credentials needed to create and secure your account;
- display name, birthday, avatar, relationship preferences, relationship source, distance preference, and nurture goals that you choose to provide; and
- the identified versions and time of your affirmative acceptance of Sweetee's Beta Terms and this policy, including your confirmation that you are an adult invited to the beta.
Shared Space information
When you pair with another person, Sweetee creates a Shared Space. We process the information you and your partner add to it, including:
- pairing invite codes, anniversary dates, special dates, milestones, and timestamps;
- moods, optional mood notes, daily answers, quiz responses, and activity used to calculate streaks;
- messages, shared photos, doodle layers, and other content you choose to send to your partner; and
- the information needed to create a Doodle Wallpaper. A Base Wallpaper that you select on your own device is not shared with your partner.
Device, diagnostic, and purchase information
- an Expo push token, which is a device identifier used to deliver notifications;
- limited reliability diagnostics such as crash data, performance data, app and device/runtime information, opaque account identifiers, and scrubbed operational events. Sweetee is configured not to intentionally send message or note content, names, emails, photos, doodles, media paths, credentials, tokens, screenshots, view hierarchies, or session replay to its diagnostics service; and
- purchase, entitlement, product, and transaction status from Apple and RevenueCat. Sweetee does not receive your payment-card number.
Support and safety information
- the contents of messages you send to support, including the contact information you provide; and
- when you report partner content, your report reason, report metadata, the reported person's identifier, and a snapshot or reference to the reported content. Reporting is the point at which that private content becomes available to Sweetee's safety team. We do not proactively send private messages or images to third-party scanning services.
Website and waitlist information
- when you join the waitlist, your email address and the submission details needed to manage the waitlist; and
- ordinary technical information that may be generated when you visit the website, such as IP address, browser/device information, request time, and server logs.
3. How we use information
We use the information we collect to:
- create and secure accounts, administer beta access, pair partners, and provide the Shared Space and related features;
- show the content and profile information intended for a paired partner, send push notifications, and support device widgets;
- administer subscriptions, restore purchases, prevent misuse, respond to support requests, and review reported content;
- monitor reliability, troubleshoot faults, protect the service, and improve the app; and
- manage the website and waitlist, including sending updates where you have asked to receive them.
We do not sell personal information, use it for cross-context behavioral advertising, or use it to track you across other companies' apps or websites.
4. Sharing with your partner and safety review
Sweetee is designed for two people. Your paired partner can see the profile, relationship information, moods, notes, messages, photos, doodles, quiz answers, special dates, and activity that the feature makes available in the Shared Space. They cannot see your password, authentication tokens, or push token. Your email address is not a feature of the Shared Space.
You should not share anything you would not want your partner to see. Do not use Sweetee to share non-consensual imagery, content involving minors, threats, harassment, coercion, illegal content, or spam.
When you make an in-app report, Sweetee stores the report and sensitive evidence in its protected moderation records. A metadata-only email alerts the safety reviewer and identifies the case, receipt time, content type, reason category, and opaque account identifiers. The email does not reproduce the reported message, image, or other intimate content. Reports are not automatically scanned or reviewed before a user submits one.
5. Service providers and other disclosures
We share information with providers that process it for us to operate Sweetee. The information disclosed depends on the feature you use.
- Supabase provides authentication, databases, file storage, real-time services, and server-side functions. It processes account, profile, Shared Space, media, report, and related service data. Supabase Privacy Policy
- RevenueCat helps administer subscriptions and entitlements. It receives the app user identifier and purchase, receipt, entitlement, and technical information needed for that service. RevenueCat Privacy Policy
- Apple provides StoreKit, App Store purchase services, and APNs. Apple processes the information needed for those services under its own policy. Apple Privacy Policy
- Sentry receives the limited diagnostics described above so we can investigate crashes and performance issues. Sentry Privacy Policy
- Expo and Apple Push Notification service (APNs) deliver push notifications. They receive the push token and notification title and body needed to route a notification. Expo Privacy Policy
- Loops manages our waitlist form and email communications. It receives the email address and form submission information you provide. Loops Privacy Policy
- Render hosts this website and may process ordinary hosting logs. Render Privacy Policy
- Resend, ImprovMX, and Google (Gmail) route and deliver support and safety email. They process the sender, recipient, message content, and relevant delivery metadata. Resend Privacy Policy, ImprovMX Privacy Policy, and Google Privacy Policy
We use these providers under their applicable service terms and data-processing commitments and require them to protect personal information consistently with this policy and applicable law. We limit each provider to the information and purposes needed for its service and review material changes to those commitments. Some providers, such as Apple, may also act independently under their own privacy policies for services you request directly.
We may also disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with law, protect people from harm, enforce our terms, investigate abuse, or in connection with a business transfer. We do not give advertisers access to your Shared Space.
6. Security and international processing
- We use access controls and authentication measures intended to limit app data to the appropriate account and paired partner.
- Passwords are handled by our authentication provider and are not stored by Sweetee in readable form.
- We use encrypted connections in transit where supported by our providers. Sweetee is not an end-to-end encrypted messaging service.
- Some service and session information may be stored locally on your device. Do not rely on an unlocked device as a private storage location.
Sweetee is operated from Taiwan and uses providers that may process information in Taiwan, the United States, and other countries. Those countries may have privacy laws different from where you live. We take steps intended to use providers with appropriate safeguards, but no transmission or storage system is completely secure.
7. Retention and account deletion
- Account and Shared Space: retained while the account and pairing remain active. If either partner deletes their account, Sweetee immediately removes that account and the whole Shared Space for both partners; the surviving account remains active but becomes unpaired.
- Push tokens: retained until replaced, revoked, or removed with the account.
- Diagnostics: retained only for the configured provider period needed to investigate reliability and security events, then deleted or aggregated.
- Moderation evidence: reported content snapshots and detailed review notes are removed 30 days after the case closes. Minimal case metadata is removed 12 months after closure. A documented legal or credible urgent-safety hold may extend those periods only for as long as the hold remains necessary.
- Support correspondence: retained while the request is active and afterward only as needed for follow-up, safety, dispute resolution, or legal obligations.
- Backups and transactions: deletion takes effect in the live service immediately. Encrypted disaster-recovery copies may persist for up to 30 days and are protected from reintroducing deleted accounts. Apple, RevenueCat, and other providers may retain transaction, security, or legal records under their own required schedules.
In-app account deletion does not wait for an active Apple subscription. It permanently deletes the account and Shared Space but does not cancel Apple billing, which must be managed separately in Apple subscription settings. A minimal pseudonymous deletion record and legally retained moderation metadata may remain so deletion can be honored after disaster recovery and safety obligations can be met.
8. Your choices and privacy requests
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to, or receive a portable copy of your personal information. You can update some profile information in the app.
- To make a privacy, access, correction, portability, or deletion request, email hello@support.sweetee-app.com.
- To raise an urgent safety concern, use in-app reporting where possible or email safety@support.sweetee-app.com.
- You can turn off push notifications and revoke camera or photo-library permissions in your device settings. Some features will no longer work without the relevant permission.
- To manage or cancel an Apple subscription, use your Apple account subscription settings. Deleting a Sweetee account does not cancel Apple billing.
We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request and may retain limited information where law permits or requires it. If you believe your request has not been resolved, you may have the right to complain to your local privacy regulator.
9. Adults-only external beta
Sweetee's external beta is intended only for adults who are selected or invited to participate. It is not offered to people in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom during this external-beta phase. Do not use the beta if you are under the age of majority where you live or are located in an excluded beta territory. We do not add a separate in-app age-verification screen; eligibility is addressed through tester selection and affirmative policy acceptance. If you believe a minor has provided information to Sweetee, contact us at hello@support.sweetee-app.com.
10. California notice
For California residents, the categories of personal information we collect are described in Section 2, and the business purposes and disclosures are described in Sections 3 through 5. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined by California law. You may exercise applicable access, deletion, correction, and non-discrimination rights by contacting us through the address in Section 8.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as Sweetee changes or legal requirements develop. We will post the revised version and update the date above. For a material change, we will provide appropriate notice and, where required, ask you to affirmatively accept the identified updated policy before you continue using the beta.
